I am blessed.  I’ve been married to the man of my dreams for more than half my lifetime.  I have two amazing adult children and a new incredible daughter-in-law.  My furry friends are always by my side and I have precious family and friends who give me daily love and laughter.

I am an empty-nester.  Here comes my confession…For the first few years navigating this new territory, I fought it.  Spending the majority of my time remembering the good ol’ days when my kids lived under our roof…the seemingly endless glorious days of time with our kids.  And when that season came to it’s predictable end, I was sad.  I missed our two and our familiar younger lives together, even though they were living the lives we hoped that they would one day enjoy. Even still, it took me some time to embrace this season, and now, thanks to the encouragement of great friends and mentors and especially my husband Greg, I am crossing over to excitement about what’s ahead, rather than what’s behind.

What got me really motivated was a blog written by my friend and sorority sister Suzanne Simone Stavert.  She started a blog called Adventures of Empty Nesters.  She and her husband chronicle the great adventures they’re having together now that they have the wide open world of possibilities and freedom ahead of them.  Check out her blog…she’s a gifted writer and an amazing person.

Anyway, I’ve always wanted to blog…I’ve thought about doing it for years.  A little nervous about trying something new, but it’s time to stop talking and start doing.   I’m out to prove that you can teach an old dog new tricks, so here I go…embracing new experiences and sharing them along the way.  Thank you Suzanne for being my inspiration!
